When to Plan Your African Safari
Africa is a year-round safari destination, but the best time to travel depends on where you want to go and what you most want to experience.
Dry Season (Jun–Oct)
Generally running from around June to October in many Southern African safari regions, the dry season is excellent for wildlife viewing as vegetation thins and animals gather around reliable water sources. This is a strong period for Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa, and many classic safari areas.
Green Season (Nov–Apr)
The green season brings lush landscapes, dramatic skies, newborn wildlife, migratory birds, and fewer travellers in some regions. It can be a beautiful time for guests who enjoy atmosphere, colour, and a quieter safari experience, although conditions vary greatly between countries and camps.
Shoulder Months (May, Nov)
