Our Story

We didn’t start this company to show you Africa. We started it to help you feel it.

We’re Nick and Eric. We are lifelong friends and adventurers. Now we are also co-founders of Go Beyond Safaris (& Photo Safari Company). This journey began long before the first itinerary was ever drawn.

We were both born and raised in Southern Africa. We lived in Zimbabwe and South Africa. The bush was our backyard. Hearing the sound of lions at night wasn’t extraordinary. It was life.

As kids, Africa wasn’t something we visited – it was something we lived. We grew up with red dust on our feet. There was barefoot freedom. We lived the kind of stories that come from a life close to the land. But like many, we left home in our twenties to explore the world beyond. And yet, something kept pulling us back. It always does. Because Africa stays with you.

We’ve spent years immersed in Africa’s wild places. We’ve woken to the call of fish eagles. We’ve walked ancient bush trails. We’ve shared stories under starlit skies. We’ve both lived and worked in the safari world. We have guided guests through life-changing landscapes. We have deeply fallen in love with the sights, sounds, and spirit of this continent.

But what kept calling us back wasn’t just the wildlife. It was the feeling – the smell of the earth after rain in the bush. The roar of a lion at dusk that stops time. The laughter shared with a local guide who feels like family. These are the moments that stay with you. They awaken something within you. That essence was always there, waiting.

Go Beyond Safaris was born out of that feeling – the belief that travel can be more than an escape. It can be a return: to nature, to simplicity, to yourself.

We built this company to share those experiences. We are not just safari experts. We are two people who deeply and truly believe that Africa has the power to change you! Together with a handpicked network of highly respected partners, we create journeys that are personal, purposeful, and unforgettable.

We’ve sat around fires with elders, tracked leopards at dawn, and danced with strangers who became friends. These experiences shaped us – and now, we shape them for you.
